Meizu 17 Pro won the GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2020

This year’s flagship model Meizu 17 Pro won the GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2020 in the Cameras, mobile phones and tablets category.

Meizu is known among local mobile phone brands for its unique handwriting. It is also among the unit manufacturers that still release models with a white front panel. The azure ceramic body of Meizu 17 Pro made in collaboration with the popular craft workshop Hsiao Fang Pottery Art, deservedly received the Japanese award.

GOOD DESIGN AWARD, also known as G-mark, is a complete design evaluation system dating back to 1957. Many companies and designers from and outside Japan are applying for it, trying to make improvements in the industry and quality of life.

Evaluation

This is a 5G compatible flagship smartphone. There were other models in the past that used a ceramic material for the back, which is a main feature of Meizu 17 Pro, but most of them were generally heavier than glass ones, and when they were dropped they had a brittleness that couldn’t be eradicated. However, this ceramic has a thickness close to the production limit. The resulting relative reduction in the weight of the device means that the risk of damage is reduced as much as possible, and it was highly rated for creating a sense of security in the ceramic that has a unique and attractive texture. The back is also simple and beautiful, and the ceramic material and symmetrical layout of each component creates a depth and sense of translucence that seems to draw you in, and emits a unique appeal that stands out even among many other smartphones.
