Meizu has finally joined the manufacturers of smartphones with a notch on the screen, despite statements by Jack Wong that he does not like this trend. Meizu X8 was introduced along with the Meizu 16X, V8/M8, as well as the EP 52 wireless headphones and Power Bank 3. Now is the time to say that this phone bears the handwriting of Jack Wong, who smoothed everything down to the smallest detail, and that costs the company $2 million.
In terms of specifications, the Meizu X8 comes with a 6.15-inch display with a resolution of 1080×2220 pixels and a screen to body ratio of 89.6%. The phone lacks the iconic mBack button, which has been replaced by Super Swipe gestures. However, at the user’s request, Super mBack or standard Android navigation can be displayed on the screen.
The device is powered by the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 (10 nm) chipset that is also used in the Meizu 16/16X. Snapdragon 710 is equipped with Kryo 360 cores with the same architecture as SD845. Both cores are 2.2GHz, and the other six take care to save energy for everyday use. The Hexagon 685 AI chip works seamlessly with the Adreno 616 CPU and GPU to achieve an efficient balance between battery life and performance. Meizu X8 is available with 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB + 128GB.
The dual rear camera uses the flagship CMOS of Sony IMX362 – 12MP (f/1.9, 1/2.55″, 1.4µm, Dual Pixel PDAF) + 5MP Samsung 2L7. The selfie camera is 20MP with ƒ/2.0 aperture and ArcSoft AI algorithm for beautification, as well as with support for Face unlock 2.0.
The phone is equipped with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor that unlocks in just 0.2 seconds and USB Type-C. The battery is 3210mAh with support for fast charging – up to 50% in 30 minutes.
The operating system of Meizu X8 is Android 8, wrapped in the user interface Flyme 7 and Game mode 3.0.
