For Meizu 2018 was not particularly strong compared to its Chinese competitors. However, the company launched 2019 with a bang, with a completely new concept for the phone.
A prototype of Meizu Zero, the world’s first phone without any holes, has just been unveiled: no buttons, no speaker holes, no charging port, even no SIM card slot.
Instead of the side buttons, we have a capacitive touch panel, which when pressed creates the feeling of physical buttons through a tactile connection.
The missing speakers have been replaced by a piezoelectric transducer under the display, which emits sound through the display through vibration – mSound 2.0. We first saw this technology with the Xiaomi Mi Mix, but it was a little rough, the audio was flat. Meizu claims to have improved the technology dramatically.
As for the charging port, Meizu Zero only charges wirelessly. It supports 18W fast charging, which makes it the fastest wireless so far compared to Huawei’s 15-watt, and most of the others are 10W.
Meizu Zero is waterproof with degree IP68, has ceramic 3D unibodies, 5.99″ OLED display, with built-in fingerprint sensor in the display. The chipset is Snapdragon 845, LPDDR4X RAM, the rear camera is the same as in the 16th series – IMX380 + IMX350. The selfie camera is 20MP. The phone only supports e-SIM – a technology that has not yet entered the masses, as well as 5G networks. Only Bluetooth headsets can be used to listen to music.
Given the characteristics of the Meizu Zero, it is unlikely to hit the market soon, as its mass use is impossible at this stage. However, the company attracted attention with this idea for a concept phone designed to make people dream of the future.
