Meizu Watch: Review, specs and price

Meizu Watch was presented today at the Meizu Smart Life conference. The company’s first all-smartwatch is equipped with a 2.5D 1.78-inch AMOLED screen, with a resolution of 368×448 pixels and a pixel density of 326 PPI, a 500 nits brightness and a 60Hz refresh rate.

The display with Corning Gorilla scratch protection, the body of the 6th series of high-quality aluminum alloy and the ceramic back of the watch are smoothly connected, following the already established Meizu design. The strap is made of fluoro-rubber material, close in feel to the skin, with a light and delicate texture.

The watch has a rectangular shape and dimensions 46×38.4 mm. Its thickness is 11.5 mm without protrusions and 12.97 mm with protrusions. It weighs 43 grams without the strap and 69 grams with the strap. It is available in two colors – black and azure.

Meizu Watch is powered by the leading 4-core Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear 4100 platform with A53 cores and 12-nanometer process technology, 1GB of RAM, Android-based custom operating system Flyme for Watch and the OneMind for Watch thought engine. The storage space is 8GB.

The tactile feedback is perfect, just like in Meizu phones, thanks to the mEngine for Watch linear vibromotor.

The built-in eSIM makes the Meizu Watch a “smart phone” for the wrist. It can be used to make calls and send SMS. Always be online, independently of the mobile phone.

A subsequent OTA update will also offer a more innovative method of unlocking and locking the watch, along with unlocking and locking the Meizu phone.

For emergencies, the Meizu Watch is equipped with the SOS function, which is also available in the company’s smartphones. You can choose to call a contact from your list or the emergency center.

Meizu Watch supports the intelligent Aicy voice assistant, an interface for remote shooting and control of the listened music.

To satisfy every taste, a set of over 100 dials is provided, from which you can choose or customize your own (DIY, Do It Yourself) by choosing from your favorite photos.

The battery of the watch is charged by touching a charger base by magnetic adsorption. The charging base is separated from the cable, which is connected via a USB Type-C port. The cable from the phone can also be used in this way.

The battery provides 36 hours of battery life. Thanks to mCharge for Watch, a 15-minute charge provides 35% charge and about 9 hours of clock operation, and a full charge takes 45 minutes.

Meizu Watch monitors the blood oxygen, heart rate, stress and sleep quality. The 24/7 clock monitoring of the health status was developed in cooperation with the American company Maxim Integrated. The sedentary time is also monitored and you are invited to move.

13 sports modes are supported, and Meizu Watch can intelligently and automatically recognize the sports scene at the beginning of the workout, record detailed exercise data so you can more clearly understand the achieved fitness effect.

The company claims that we can swim with the watch but did not report the degree of its water resistance.

Meizu Watch supports contactless payment thanks to the integrated NFC module.

The watch will be available for sale tomorrow and its price in China is 1499 yuan (about 235 dollars).
