Yesterday, Qualcomm China published in its Weibo profile an interview with the CEO of Meizu Technology. It became clear that this position is already held by Huang Zhipan, Huang Zhang‘s younger brother. Earlier this month, the company sent annual letters to its employees, which were also signed by Huang Zhipan. As there is no official announcement from Meizu, it is not known when this move was made.
In the interview, the new CEO summed up what the company has achieved over the past year and recalled Meizu’s 2020 strategy to become a premium brand with a differentiated business for mid-range to high-end mobile phones and development in the AIoT field and smart home.
In 2020, the company reported financial success, although it launched only two smartphones. Meizu 17 series has won many awards for its unique design and hardware configuration of the highest level, including GOOD DESIGN AWARD 2020, one of the four best awards in the world for industrial design. The Meizu 17 series has been recognized by fans, the media and industry organizations and has become one of the most distinctive flagship smartphones of the year.
In addition to maintaining the distinctive Meizu Design, the company has released two limited series. Meizu 17 Pro received a version with a beautiful ceramic azure back cover in joint development with Taiwanese ceramics workshop Hsiao Fang Pottery Art. Meizu 17 marked with a limited series the construction of the first made entirely in China aircraft carrier CV-17.
Throughout the past year, the Meizu 17 series has also found a place in the various AnTuTu rankings – for performance, value for money and user rating. In January this year, Meizu 17 Pro topped Android smartphones according to users, and Meizu 17 ranked 6th.
Meizu recently announced the Lipro brand and launched the first batch of high-quality products to build a smart home and provide a better life for users through healthy lighting.
The company will also pay close attention to AioT wearable products, the first of which is the long-awaited Meizu Smart Watch.
For two consecutive years, Meizu Technology has been in the Top 100 most valuable Chinese brands in the BrandZ ranking, which shows that the strategy taken is the right one.
Earlier this year, Meizu launched a partnership with many social channels and began opening more than 300 offline retail outlets and after-sales service centers, along with one of China’s largest retailers, the Suning Commerce Group.
In 2021 Meizu will continue to provide consumers with high-quality and distinctive boutique mobile phones and smart watches, Meizu Acoustics will deepen its efforts in the development of TWS headphones, new products will be launched under the Lipro brand.
