Meizu 21 and Meizu 21 Pro spotted on GSMA IMEI database

Recently, information about the next smartphones of the Meizu company began to leak. The Meizu 21 series is expected to be released in the first quarter of 2024.

After the radio certification (MIIT) of the M461Q model, the Meizu 21 series appeared in the GSMA IMEI database as well. It will include 2 smartphones, Meizu 21 and Meizu 21 PRO, which will most likely be powered by the high-performance Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

Meizu 21 and Meizu 21 PRO

Meizu 21 has 3 different model numbers. The M461Q model is supposed to be for the Chinese market. However, what do the suffixes of the other two models M461H and M461S mean? Most likely these model numbers correspond to different markets. The company’s previous phones, whose models have the suffix H, were intended for the international market. Does this mean the cheaper Meizu 21 smartphone will have a global version?

As for the Meizu 21 PRO, this smartphone will have the model numbers M481Q and M481S. The suffix S is also present here, which remains a mystery for now.

After the Meizu 16 series, the company reduced its production and limited itself to the Chinese market only. The Meizu 17, Meizu 18/18s/18X and Meizu 20 series do not have global versions, although they work normally even outside China, since Google services are built into the OS.

After the car giant Geely acquired a controlling stake in Meizu’s shares, the company announced that it plans to position itself in the TOP 5 of Chinese smartphone manufacturers, as well as a return to the international market. Whether that will happen so soon remains to be seen.
